How is it going?

The treatment is fast, comfortable and painless. After placing the laser applicator on the affected area of the skin, the laser beam is applied. Subsequently, the applicator is moved and the process is repeated. The treatment time depends on the size of the bearing. Most patients are treated within minutes. The session is repeated two to three times a week.

For most patients, excimer laser treatment is compared to the bursting of a thin rubber band. Some people have reddened skin at the laser treatment site after the treatment. This will naturally wear off in a few days after the treatment, depending on the sensitivity of the skin. Other possible side effects may include blisters, burning, swelling, itching or increased pigmentation 1-5 days after treatment.

How to prepare?

There is no need to follow any special regimen before the treatment. The skin should be clean without creams and ointments. Before the treatment, it is advisable to inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and also about the treatment you have already undergone, or what the results were.

Lupus is a contraindication to excimer laser treatment, the therapy is also not recommended in case of excessive sensitivity of the skin to the sun. The treatment is not suitable for pregnant women and children under 16 years of age. Talk to your doctor about the appropriateness of treatment in advance if you have reduced immunity or have a family history of skin cancer.

The treatment must be repeated

For the optimal result of new hair growth, it is necessary to undergo 25 to 35 treatments. You should see new hair growth after just 15 treatments. The result is individual. Usually 25 to 35 sessions are needed for complete hair growth in the affected area. This means treatment for 8-10 weeks.

Why does hair loss occur?

At the first symptoms of hair and scalp disease, it is necessary to consult a trichologist. Diseases of the scalp and hair loss in men and women can indicate pathological processes in the body (avitaminosis, hormonal imbalance, disorders of mineral metabolism), as well as the presence of infections (viral, fungal).

The health of the hair and scalp depends on the state of the organism. Therefore, the trichologist can send the patient for consultation and examination to other specialists, e.g. endocrinologist and gynecologist to find out the causes of hair loss in women and men.

Causes of hair and scalp diseases are:

  • endocrine disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus)
  • sebaceous gland disorders (hormonal disorders, excessive drying of the scalp)
  • unbalanced diet (lack of vitamins, minerals)
  • stress, overwork
  • long-term use of certain drugs (hormonal, antibiotics)
  • postpartum period (hormonal changes, lack of vitamins and minerals)
  • gastrointestinal diseases (dysbacteriosis, liver disease)
  • infections (fungus, dermatomycosis)

Women may experience scalp pain and hair loss due to frequent wearing of tight hairstyles, hairdos and heavy hair accessories. Scalp pain can also be caused by cold (cold affects the blood vessels of the scalp and hair follicles). Dandruff is a scalp condition in which the dry skin on the head peels off. Dandruff can be dry, oily, mixed (depending on the type of scalp) and tubular. Tubular dandruff is a thick white scale on the scalp that is caused by a hormonal imbalance (often occurs during puberty).
Dandruff can be a symptom of a scalp disease (seborrhea, scalp psoriasis) or it can be caused by negative influences on the scalp.

The causes of dandruff are:

  • fungal diseases of the scalp
  • unsuitable hair and scalp care products
  • imbalance of intestinal flora (increase in the number of pathogenic bacteria)
  • hormonal imbalance
  • drying of the scalp (due to frequent curling, dyeing, ironing of hair).

Classic treatment is not suitable for everyone. Various options are available and the appropriate treatment depends on the type of alopecia aerata the patient has, as well as the age and extent of hair loss. The main goal of the treatment is to block the immune system’s attacks on the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth.
